In an article recently published on Babelmed, an online magazine on Mediterranean cultures and societies, with which she has collaborated for many years, Elizabeth Grech recounts the magic of the encounters that led to the publication of her poetry collection in other languages.
This is the case with her first poetry book “bejn baħar u baħar”, originally published in Maltese by Merlin Publishers in 2019 and then also published last January in Arabic under the title of ين بحر وبحر by the Egyptian publishing house Sefsafa. This version was directly translated from the Maltese by Maria Pakkala.
Elizabeth dwells on the importance of literary festivals that allow for unexpected encounters and the seemingly fortuitous birth of new collaborations, of meaningful human and cultural exchanges.
