Every year, the Executive Council of the International Theatre Institute (ITI), in partnership with the Dance Committee of ITI and World Dance Alliance, choses an outstanding dance personality to write the message for International Dance Day, which is celebrated since 1982 on 29 April, all over the world.
This day is intended to mark the great significance of “dance” as an art form. The celebration also acts as a wake-up-call for governments, politicians and institutions, which have not yet recognised its value and have not yet realised its potential for economic growth.
The 2022 message was written by the dancer KANG Sue-jin from South Korea, Artistic Director of the National Korean Ballet
“As dancers, we believe that the flapping of our wings gives hope to the hearts of those who love the art of dance and gives them the courage to overcome this pandemic.
My heart is already starting to pound.”
